During my first hot yoga class many years ago, I remember feeling that this practice was exactly what I needed.

As I continued to develop my practice, I was so inspired, that I decided to get my 200 Hour Yoga Teaching Certification and started teaching classes soon after. This is when the real learning began!

After a few years of teaching, I took on the role of studio manager.

It’s been an amazing journey, and as my path continued to unfold I found myself with an opportunity to start Sādhanā Yoga Studio.

Having recently upgraded my teaching certification to a 500 Hour RYT, I am honoured to continue to teach students in-studio and online, as well as continuing to lead teacher training programs!

I teach various styles of yoga from the most gentle yin style stretch classes to highly intense and challenging vinyasa or power style flow classes. My style is derived from my initial training certification in an Anusara based program and enhanced through additional certification with Purna Yoga, as well as studying with various masters such as Aadil Palkhivala, Brad Waites, Rodney and Colleen Yee.

I came to yoga with a purely physical inspiration mainly to deal with various ailments and injuries. In addition, during this time I was also dealing with clinical depression and anxiety. I quickly and gratefully found yoga and meditation to be my salvation for addressing all these physical and mental challenges. My personal style of teaching is centred around this self-healing and mindful self-care concept of practice.

CHERYL WALLACE

I discovered yoga and the power of meditation in 1998 after a battle with an eating disorder and deep depression. The practice of yoga and meditation helped her find peace and stillness; strengthening mind, body and spirit.
It was my love for yoga that brought me to study with Brad Waites, Lead Trainer at The College of Purna Yoga. Completing my 200-hour training has allowed me to share this passion with others.

In my classes, students learn to embrace their authentic true self within. I believe that Yoga is for everybody and every body. My practice strengthens the core with a full body workout that includes mind and spirit. You will leave class feeling lighter and empowered to be your best self off the mat too.

TAMARA WASYLENKY

I’ve been teaching yoga since 2017. Since then, I have completed training in Restorative
and SUP Yoga and have recently finished a 300-hour Advanced YTT.
For me, practicing yoga is like coming home. It is about working with the breath and the body to cultivate a balance of softness, strength, self-love and acceptance. I believe that the depth and beauty of yoga is available to everyone, and I am always discovering new ways to develop and share my practice.
I teach alignment-based classes that allow students to challenge themselves and find their way through yoga. I also love stories, so the myth, philosophy and mantra of yoga is of particular interest to me. It is with humility and gratitude that I share what I learn with all who attend my classes. I look forward to seeing you there!

LAURA KAPTEIN

Hi I’m Laura! After struggling with anxiety and panic attacks in my 20s, I discovered yoga and have now been practicing for over a decade. Yoga helps me to reconnect with myself and has allowed me to deepen my understanding of the mind-body connection. I love the deeper teachings and philosophies of the practice, and this inspired me to pursue the 200hr Teacher Training at Sadhana. I believe it is important to find the right level of challenge within your practice… and recognizing that some days the right level of challenge might be just showing up! I look forward to meeting you and guiding you in your practice.
